Since 2023 India is the most populous country in the world. It also has the highest number of unreached people. Half of all Indians, 700 million people, can be reached through the internet!
The internet mission GlobalRize was founded by pioneer missionary Marten Visser. After first founding a mission among asylum seekers in the Netherlands (mainly Muslim ministry), he became a church planter in unreached areas of Thailand (mainly Buddhist ministry) for 15 years. God showed him the tremendous potential for internet missions when a Bible page he started on Facebook reached up to 50 million people a month. After returning to the Netherlands, he started to build GlobalRize from 2015 onwards. GlobalRize now has over 800 volunteer online missionaries ministering in 35 different languages to literally every country in the world.
GlobalRize already had a significant impact through its English ministry, and through small teams ministering in Hindi, Bengali, Telugu, and Tamil. But there is scope for significant growth. GlobalRize wants to build a national team in India, in all of the 10 major languages of India.
All of these teams will have a paid team leader, and a group of volunteers doing the online evangelism. The online evangelism consists of building a large reach on social media (Facebook and other platforms), after which people are invited to enroll in an online Bible study with a personal mentor, or to ask their spiritual questions in a chat room. A language team coach will be appointed who knows the GlobalRize strategy very well. He will be the linking pin between the support office in the Netherlands and the Indian language teams. The support office helps with strategy, online marketing, and technical support.
Below you will find some some pictures of Azaad, he is the team leader of GlobalRize for the Telegu language group. A tremendously dedicated man. He and his team members have a simple little office from which they do their internet ministry.
‘Even without a passport, visa and money, we can bring people to God.’ – Azaad, teamleader GlobalRize India
From screen to church
As GlobalRize was started by a church planter, GlobalRize does not believe that digital ministry can take the place of other forms of ministry. Therefore it evaluates all its ministry initiatives from the viewpoint of whether it helps people to commit not just to Christ, but also to a local church. That is the place they can continue their spiritual growth. As GlobalRize likes to say: we lead people from screen to church. To achieve this, and also to support other Christian ministries, a national church map, produced from a comprehensive national database, is envisioned.
Funding the project
We need funding to be able to grow our work in India. MissionInvest USA very much like this project to reach the unreached. Especially in India we do see tremendous opportunities in sharing the Gospel. ‘..lift up your eyes, and see that the fields are white for harvest’ (John 4:35). Our goal is to raise $65,000 in 2024 to be able to hire team leaders for all Indian language teams, support them with online marketing and technical needs, and help them start building volunteer teams. Please help us reach the largest unreached country in the world!
